mysql aantal records in cursor zonder te herhalen?

Tel voor de cursor:

select count(*)
into @user_cnt
from users
where fullname like concat (
    lastname,
    ' ',
    firstname,
    ' (',
    middlename,

    );

EDIT:Als je het wilt doen nadat je de cursor OPENEN wilt, probeer dan:

OPEN your_cursor;
select FOUND_ROWS() into user_cnt ;
